QSMetric Potential Indications – Traumatic brain injury
Discover a potential indication of QSMetric™ technology.
Traumatic brain injuries are caused by impacts of varying intensity to the skull. The severity of the trauma ranges from minor to severe. Diagnosis is based on symptoms. If the neurological examination indicates a possible worsening, a prognosis can be made by imaging using CT scan and sometimes MRI to observe lesions or haematoma.
QSM has been described as a promising technology for predicting the medium-term pathophysiological changes that may occur after a minor or major Traumatic brain injury, and for monitoring the long-term consequences of neurodegenerative pathologies, particularly in the context of repeated Traumatic brain injuries. Indeed, scientific articles describe iron accumulations as a trigger for the pathophysiological processes leading to long-term neurological and neurodegenerative consequences.
